Mountain bike tips for beginners & specialists

In Das Walchsee Activeresort between spring and winter we offer a regular mountain bike evening. In the Bike Corner all guests interesting in mountain-biking meet up. One of our guides is always present. It is there that the next day's tours are discussed – of relevance too are also the weather conditions, questions about hire of mountain bikes and suitable equipment. 

At Reception those who are interested and who are staying in the hotel as well as day-trippers can register for a guided mountain bike tour. 

Our guides also plan individual tours: Always tailored to suit a wide range of difficulty levels. Alternating between easy trails and those intended for extreme mountain bikers, is part of a well-devised concept. Also part of the cycle technique training before every tour:

Stefan is an expert of the region, having grown up here and in our hotel, he is responsible for group courses and guided mountain bike tours. He is also trained in providing beneficial massages.

Between the Chiemgau Alps and the Kaiser mountains, countless kilometres of mountain bike routes are there waiting to be explored by our guests. In the Kaiserwinkl, paths of varying difficulty levels proceed through tranquil valleys, Alpine landscapes and up to the summits of the Zahmer and Wilder Kaiser. Whether it is on an E-bike, mountain bike or road bike – there is something for everyone here and tips from our local and experienced bike guides are provided too of course.

Those of you who have just started out mountain biking, or those looking for routes that are suitable for families, will find suitable routes in the Kaiserwinkl just as much as mountain bike pros. The foothills of the Chiemgau Alps in the north of the region are not too steep and are therefore ideal for beginners.

Numerous Alpine inns are exciting destinations for a tour by mountain bike. Easier routes are waiting on the valley floor area to be discovered by mountain bike fans staying in Das Walchsee Sportresort. The Wilder Kaiser circuit tour proceeds through hilly terrain around the Wilder and Zahmer Kaiser – with swim opportunities available in nearby Walchsee.

Anyone who wants to scale the 1480 metre Bärenhütte on the Unterberghorn needs to be a little more ambitious in their outlook. Stages 10 and 11 of the ‘Bike Trail Tirol’ circuit tour are also just right for experienced mountain bikers.
